چکیده
A port-a-cath was accidentally inserted into an arterial vessel of a 78-year-old woman. Chest X-ray was suggestive for aortic placement (Fig. 1A) being confirmed by computed tomography (Fig. 1B). The patient was immediately scheduled for surgery, which could be performed without cardiopulmonary bypass (Fig. 1C and D). The patient made a swift recovery. Fig. 1. (A) Port-a-cath as shown in the preoperative X-ray. Arrows indicate course of catheter. (B) 3D-reconstruction of computed tomography scan (left-posterior view) displays the port-a-cath (1) penetrating the aortic arch between the origin of the left carotid (2) and left subclavian artery (3). (C and D) Intra-operative view of the Port-a-cath before (C) and after removal (D) from the aortic arch. After sternotomy and extrapericardial exposure of the aortic arch, two purse string sutures were placed on the aortic arch around the device which allowed port removal without bleeding.

Sun's procedure for complex aortic arch repair: total arch replacement using a tetrafurcate graft with stented elephant trunk implantation.
The Sun's procedure is a surgical technique proposed by Dr. Li-Zhong Sun in 2002 that integrates total aortic arch replacement using a tetrafurcated graft with implantation of a specially designed frozen elephant trunk (Cronus(®)) in the descending aorta. It is used as a treatment option for extensive aortic dissections or aneurysms involving the ascending aorta, aortic arch and the descending ...

We reported a case of successful aortic arch replacement using selective cerebral perfusion for ruptured distal aortic arch aneurysm (DAAA) with cardiac tamponade. A 80-year-old man who had preoperative episode of severe chest pain. Computed tomography showed saccular DAAA and pericardial effusion. He was diagnosed as ruptured DAAA with hemorrhagic cardiac tamponade. We performed urgent graft r...
متن کاملSuccessful Repair of Type a Aortic Dissection in a Term Pregnancy: A Case Report
Stanford type A acute aortic dissection (AAD) is a very rare complication, with potentially lethal consequences in pregnancy. In fact, pregnancy has been regularly associated with the possibility of aortic. dissection in almost half of young women. Herein, we present the case of a 38-year-old woman in her 37th week of pregnancy. The patient’s medical history was indicative of G4L2Ab1(4 gestaiti...

Background Vascular ring is less than 1% of congenital heart disease. Double aortic arch (DAA) is the most common form of it. Its detecting is important because of the effects of pressure on the esophagus and trachea. Case Report In this study, three children suffering from double aortic arch with symptoms of dysphagia and recurrent aspiration, which in two cases had led to cardiac arrest, wer...

Introduction: Insome cases, assist devices are required to ensure an adequate cardiac output after cardiac surgery. Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) is the most commonly used cardiac assist device, which provides first-line support for patients with heart failure. The aim of this study was to determine factors affecting the mortality rate of patients receiving IABP. Materials & Methods: In thi...
